A fantastic rye whiskey produced in Kentucky, the Pikesville brand dates back to 1895 in Maryland. This 6 year old 110 proof was released in 2015, receiving a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, an "Extraordinary, Ultimate Recommendation" from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge and was named the World's Best Rye Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards 2016 - Heaven Hill also won Distiller of the Year at the Icons of Whisky 2016!
Some dusty spice, a touch of Norwegian hand cream and cocoa at first with sweet liquorice, Curaçao, vanilla custard and crème caramel developing.
Fruity, then wonderfully spicy rye. Sweet liquorice again (specifically the coconutty/nougat-y pink Liquorice Allsorts that have a black bit in the middle), plenty of oak and then clove drops on the tail.
Vanilla with cinnamon and apricot Danish.

I recommend you try Bulleit Rye and Knob Creek Rye next. Master Of Malt sells them, and they are cheaper than Pikesville, but still very good and different from each other and Pikesville. Knob Creek Rye is so spicy it can blow your head off if you aren't prepared for it.
I'm not a big bourbon fan and yes I know this isn't bourbon but it's one 3 ingredients that is in bourbon but WOW Rye whisky or whiskey more apt ? ,On its own is not bad at all in fact it's very nice and I'm blowed away with its complexity and aroma. Since I'm a newbie to Rye whiskey can anyone recommend some good drams of Rye whiskey because I've no idea which are the better ones to try ? I'm going to have to do some experimenting with this but in the mean time pulse recommend some good Rye drams. ? - as homer would do
I'm over whiskey with bite. That said, at least it's tasty.
6 years old, packs some beautiful flavours ... A really really good whisky!
Very good - needs to be let out with a decent slug of water... with Brexit idiots trashing the £ it looks pricey, but worth it if you can afford the cash
