Vega 40 Year Old 1977 - North Star Spirits
The second release in North Start Spirits' Vega series, and it's an absolute belter - a 40 year old blended malt, boasting a hugely sherried flavour profile. Only 400 bottles of this expression were produced. The name comes from the star in the Lyra constellation, not from the Street Fighter character that wears a mask and wields a big claw - which frankly seems like cheating.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Freshly roasted coffee, sticky sherry and a whiff of rancio.
Palate
Chocolate ganache, tobacco, sherried citrus peels and spicy cinnamon.
Finish
Very long, with notes of mocha and oily walnut.
