North British 29 Year Old 1991 (cask 262082) - Cask Strength Collection (Signatory)
Excellent indie single grain here from the North British Distillery, independently bottled by Signatory for the brill Cask Strength Collection. This one was aged in a refill sherry butt for 29 years, from September 1991 to November 2020, and then bottled up with an outturn of 381 bottles. Well-aged grain is great. Sherried grain is great. This just so happens to be both!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Gingerbread, malt loaf, and treacle tart. Aside from all the baked goods, there are also notes of hazelnut and blackberry.
Palate
Fried dough dusted with cocoa, orange zest, a fair whack of black pepper and cinnamon spiciness.
Finish
Lingering Christmas cake and brown sugar notes.
