New York, New York. The Big Apple. Broadway. The Statue of Liberty. The Beastie Boys. The Empire State Building. The Five Boroughs. In particular, Brooklyn! Why Brooklyn? Because the Beastie Boys dwelled in a castle in Brooklyn. Why all the chat about the Beastie Boys? Oh, I got sidetracked, the theme I was going for was New York, which is where the New York Distilling Company is based, in Brooklyn (also home of the Beastie Boys), which is where this three-year-old rye whiskey comes from. A total of 281 bottles join our exclusive Master of Malt collection and it is seriously tasty stuff, so in the words of, you guessed it, the Beastie Boys, tilt your head back, let's finish the cup!

A gentle start with soft woody spice and hints of toasted marshmallows. Grassy herbs arrive in time before that rye really shows itself with notes of buttered pumpernickel.
Solid stuff, with classic trails of spicy rye, salted butter, drying herbs, and runny caramel. Rye sourdough with toasted seeds, drizzled with runny honey.
Sweetness lingers, alongside green peppercorn heat, oak char, and vanilla.

Really great and well worth the price. My go to Rye has always been Rittenhouse. But this might well take its place. Smooth yet punchy. And at 58% Vol, a lot of bang for the buck.
