Single cask 20 year old Mortlach, independently bottled by Signatory for the Un-Chillfiltered Collection. This was distilled back in July 1996 and set aside to mature in a hogshead cask until March 2017, when it was bottled without any chill-filtration whatsoever.
Poached pear, gingerbread, a hint of meaty malt sneaks through underneath.
Slightly floral at first, before waves of toasty spices and nutty chocolate.
Honey'd porridge and creamy malt.

This is very enjoyable whisky. I'm in the States and compared to the 'Scotch' I can get here this is great, smooth, not harsh, but also had a spicy kick, like a baby playfully kicking you in the belly kind of kick. Since it's not chill filtered I like to pour it over half an ice cube to turn it cloudy. I taste with my eyes and for me this honestly makes it taste smoother than a clear whisky. Natural in the best kind of way. Conclusion: I should have bought a few more bottles, because for the price this is excellent.
