Mortlach 1954 - Rare Vintage (Gordon and MacPhail)
Distilled in January 1954 and bottled in November 2012, it's safe to say that this Mortlach single malt Scotch whisky is just ridiculously old. It spent over 50 years maturing in a sherry butt. Bottled by Gordon and MacPhail for their Rare Vintage selection.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sweet sherry notes appear right at the start, followed by peppermint and a subtle beeswax aroma.
Palate
Pineapple cubes, pear drops, raisins and some peppery oak notes.
Finish
A drying, medium length finish.
Overall
Intense and well aged. Really very special.
