Mortlach 10 Year Old 2008 (cask 12757) - Old Particular (Douglas Laing)

Mortlach 10yo 2008 #12757 Bottling Note

An interesting indie Mortlach here from Douglas Laing's Old Particular range. This 10 year old single malt from the Beast of Dufftown (as Mortlach is known to some folks) was matured in a refill wine cask, and has been bottled at 48.4% ABV with an outturn of 297 bottles. Has the red wine cask tamed the beast?

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Juicy red berries and booze-y wine, with enough malt and cooking spice to balance it out.

Palate: Peppercorn, caramel, redcurrant, cinnamon and mince pie.

Finish: Lingering vanilla and a touch of oak-y smoke.
