Single Malt

Morrison & MacKay
A single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed distillery on Islay, bottled by Morrison & MacKay. The name, The Big Strand, comes from the long sandy beach way out west on the Isle of Islay.
Delightfully coastal, with hints of oily barley underneath.
The coastal theme continues on the palate, with a touch of bonfires too.
Vanilla and smoke. Some fresh fruit sweetness.

Sadly this one is not for me. Has an overpowering sharpness that I could not find enjoyable.
Like licking an ash tray without the texture normally associated with old cigarette butts
Somewhat lighter flavour than Laphroag's Quater Cask with some younger whiskies. Very enjoyable at a good strength and no colouring. Lovely stuff and excellent value -
The fruitiest single malt ever. Try with a roast bird and gravy. The smokiness with citrusy undertones and the vanilla will pair beautifully
A lover of many fine and cheaper Whiskeys this was definetly one of my least enjoyed. Smoke flavor tasted more like burnt oil and ammonia.
