
The second release from Bordeaux's Moon Harbour is a more smoky affair than their first expression (which was a blended whisky, whereas this is a blended malt). The producers finished this rich tipple in casks that previously held red wine (goodness knows there are some excellent red wines produced all around the Bordeaux region), resulting in a well-balanced whisky showing off sweetness and smokiness is equal measures.
Christmas spices (think clove and cinnamon), fresh orange oil, a touch of cherry and slightly burnt bacon.
Black pepper and smoked sea salt, juicy raspberry, oatcakes and chocolate ice cream.
Red chilli pepper, solid oak, stewed plum.
