Mosstowie is single malt that was produced at the Miltonduff distillery in Speyside using Lomond stills, which were installed in the 1960s by owners Hiram Walker (who had introduced similar stills at distilleries Scapa, Inverleven and Glenburgie). Miltonduff's Lomond stills, however, were ripped out and replaced by traditional pot stills in 1981. So you rarely see Mosstowie whisky, especially as it was primarily used as a constituent in Ballantine's blends. That makes this a unique treat, distilled on 20 October 1976 and aged for 21 years in a single cask (#12886). A total of 242 bottles were filled on 28 May 1998 by Signatory Vintage for its old Silent Stills range.
