Shenk's Homestead (2020 Release)
It's the 2020 Release of Shenk’s Homestead, a Kentucky sour mash whiskey from Michter's! It's made with a good helping of rye, and unlike previous releases, aged in a substantial proportion of Chinquapin oak casks alongside American oak. Just 955 bottles were released at 45.6% ABV.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Marmalade bitterness, apples and custard, and toasty oak, with a good dusting of baking spice.
Palate
Earthy vanilla pod, more apple zing, and grassy oak, with touches of wood char and brown sugar.
Finish
Cherry jam on a warming finish of cocoa and herbaceous rye.
