Independently bottled Macduff, released for the Old Particular range by Douglas Laing. This one was matured in a refill hogshead for 21 years, from May 1997 to May 2018. Following that, it was bottled at 51.5% ABV with an outturn of just 335 bottles.
Strawberry, sponge cake, fresh linen and a hint of marmalade on toast.
Barley moves to the fore, backed up by ginger root, raspberry and caraway.
More ginger (though now sweeter rather than spicy) and lots of vanilla.
