Best Canadian rye ive had. mellow sweet smooth and spicey. Like Blanton's but slightly less alcoholic intensity.
Imagine a malt scotch whisky (flavour wise), but made in Canada (not Scotland) with malted rye (not malted barley), and you got Lot No. 40. I admit, I didn't taste this version, only the new one. But if the new is anything like the old, let me tell you: this is a great whisky, specially for the price! (40$ in Canada.) This whisky is rye on steroids! It's got that bold rye spiciness we love and a pleasant sweetness reminiscent of real, heavy pumpernickel. Overall: a robust whisky with big flavour at a fair price. If you find a bottle outside of Canada, buy it!
Everyone is paying attention to the Crown Royal Harvest, which is delicious but this gem stole the show at the Canadian Whisky Awards. Buy it if you can find it as it is disappearing quickly.
