Royal Lochnagar 21 Year Old 2000 (cask 18788) - Old Malt Cask (Hunter Laing)
In April 2000, the team at Royal Lochnagar set about distilling this single malt and filling it into a single refill hogshead, where it stayed for 21 years. In June 2021, the time finally came for the whisky to be bottled up, a task carried out by the experts at Hunter Laing – releasing a total of 330 bottles for its independent Old Malt Cask collection.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sweet notes of apricot, chewy caramel, with subtly herbal, green oak lying beneath.
Palate
Dark cherry chocolate, spiced fruit cake, rich, malted oak, and sweet, juicy raisins stand firm, as warming spice starts to build.
Finish
Sweet malt and cakey spice linger, with peppery heat on the tail.
