The 1995 vintage of Lagavulin's delicious Distillers Edition, bottled in 2011. This stuff is finished in sweet Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, and it's bloomin' marvellous. Very smoky and very thick, sweet and sticky. Beautiful with chocolates after dinner!
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Smoky and woody. Hints of forest floor, wood sheds, cut hay, sultanas, rum and raisin icecream and porcini mushrooms.
Creamy and very Christmassy! Lots of peat smoke, nut oil, hazelnut, cocoa, sultanas, crispy bacon, a little kipper, sticking plasters and molasses.
Old rum, nutmeg, rhubarb and dark chocolate fudge.

I visited the Lagavulin Distillery & my Son & me are huge fans of it for years!!
The most delightfull whisky I have ever tasted.
I frequent the 16 year old, so I thought I'd try this one. Let me put it this way.... It's an olympic photo finish. So when I say it beats the 16 year old it by a hair – there is a lot happening in the space of a hair. Plainly put, It's darker, it has more smoke and peat and a spicy finish that appears minutes later.
Nose: Sweet peat, and smoke. Malty tar and liquorish. Nice… Taste: Sweet, tarry peat. Sweet liquorice and spice. Long finish. This is a great dram, but the regular Lagavulin 16 year old is just as good, and cheaper… so I just don’t see the point with the distillers edition.
I tried this at Leeds Whisky festival recently and had to buy a bottle. This was easily my favourite out of the 30-something whiskies I tried that night! Thoroughly recommended.
