Kilchoman 5 Year Old 2006
A five-year-old single malt from Kilchoman, distilled in 2006. This was actually the first ever five-year-old from the distillery, 80% aged in first-fill bourbon and 20% in refill bourbon.
This bottle was part of a private collection and will show signs of wear if of a certain vintage - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
A mix of pear-heavy Calvados, olive oil, stem ginger and a hint of fresh oysters with a squeeze of lemon juice. Some vanilla sweetness, a tinge of beeswax, lovely warm slabs of peat and butterscotch.
Palate
Big notes of tangy peat, salinity, butter on samphire, lapsang souchong, buttermilk, vanilla, ginger, nutmeg and TCP. Fascinating.
Finish
Wood ash, linseed oil, TCP again, sticking plasters, malt and smoked. A touch of anchovy and cut hay.
