One of three batches of rye whiskey from James E. Pepper independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, each one finished in a different type of cask. As pointed out by James E. Pepper's owner Amir Peay on the label, this one was allowed a finishing period in Pedro Ximénez casks.
Batch 2 is a release of 1,077 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Sweet dried fruit, cream sherry and a touch of peppermint initially, with orange peel, walnuts and dusty rye spice in support.
New oak warmth and sherry-drenched dried fruit provide a balance between a toasted, dry mouthfeel and plenty of viscous and well-rounded sweetness. Notes of toffee popcorn, candied ginger and rye bread bring depth.
A light glaze of burnt honey remains.
An elegant, dry and aromatic offering from James E. Pepper.
