Islay Journey

To accompany Highland Journey, Hunter Laing have gone and released Islay Journey, a blended malt marrying Islay whiskies! Getting to Islay isn't the easiest trip, so now you can transport yourself there slightly easier with a sip of this smoky whisky, which has been matured in bourbon hogsheads. This one certainly packs a maritime punch.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Hefty aromas of peat smoke, a flint-y minerality, sea breeze and bonfire ash, with a burst of red berry and vanilla sweetness.

Palate Hallmark notes of earthy peat, sea spray and mineral-heavy seaweed, with icing sugar and creamier notes of vanilla and milk chocolate.

Finish Medium length, with a sprinkle of sea salt and a dash of fresh citrus.

Disappointing for an Islay
As a peat lover this is disappointing, too much vanilla coming through and too light on the peat, I'd be hard pressed to rate this as a true Islay in the likes of Arbeg, Lagavulin, Caol Ila etc.

great Islay blend
Hunter Laing have really shown their blending skills with this one. A great representation of Islay whisky - filled with peat smoke, sea salt and seaweed, but with milk chocolate sweetness coming through. Delicious!

A beautiful Islay blended malt. The creamy notes alongside the earthy peat and seaweed is fantastic.
