Invergordon 50 Year Old 1966 (cask 12235) - The Sovereign (Hunter Laing)
I say! A 50 year old Invergordon, bottled by Hunter Laing for the Sovereign series! Distilled in March 1966, this beauty was aged in a refill hogshead cask for half of a century (blimey!) before it was bottled at cask strength in April 2016 at a fitting 50.0% ABV. With an outturn of 261 bottles, this Invergordon is non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It just oozes sophistication, doesn't it?!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sweet vanilla and dried fruit, with a helping of dusty oak and a hint of cinnamon.
Palate
Rich and mellow, buttery shortbread, vanilla and dark chocolate with hazelnut filling. Spicy clove and sultanas are also present and give good depth.
Finish
Long and dry, with a slightly earthy, rhubarb tang.
