Hunter Laing
Scotland
Indie Invergordon, and a very well-matured example of it! This is a 45 year old single grain from the Invergordon distillery, aged in a single bourbon barrel from December 1972 to April 2018. 235 bottles were produced for Hunter Laing's The Sovereign range.
Cacao, tobacco, walnut, oak, damson jam and caraway.
Thick with salted caramel and molasses, with hints of toasted cedar and dark chocolate in the background.
Rum-soaked apricot, sultana and stem ginger, with tobacco notes reappearing.
Haven't tasted this one Yet !!!! but have a 35yr old that I absolutely adore. Cant actually purchase this one yet (in France) no postage. If this is as good or hopefully better you will not be disappointed, The aroma is sweet complex and additive you can just sniff it for the first 5 min with out rushing to taste, which is remarkably gentle for its proof with a long finish almost rum like. If you knew what you could possibly be missing don't think I could wait two and a half yrs many happy returns when it comes. A scot in France
Has anyone tasted this? Bought a bottle to open on my 50th birthday as it was distilled in the year I was born. Two and a half years to go until I open it!
