While most of the whisky from Inchgower goes into some very popular blends, some does escape as a single malt, like this independent bottling from Gordon & MacPhail. It was distilled in 1998 and left to mature in refill Sherry butts until 2013, when it became part of the Connoisseurs Choice range.
Nose: Red apple skin, citrus fruits, herbaceous hints and mint.
Palate: Warming Sherried notes, char and hazelnut. Chocolate-y in spots.
Finish: Medium length. Continued sweetness.
Overall: It's always interesting to get a taste of Inchgower, if only because we don't see it all that often.
