A somewhat mysterious indie bottling here from Hunter Laing's First Editions range. It was produced by an Orkney distillery – but that distillery remains a mystery! There aren't many whisky distilleries on Orkney, mind, so that sort of narrows it down a fair bit. Anyway, it was distilled in 2006 and left to age in a refill hogshead for 15 years, before being bottled up in 2021. Only 309 bottles were produced.
Salted caramel, biscuit dough, a whisper of herb gardens in summer.
Quite chocolatey, though with sea spray salinity remaining at its heart.
Peppercorn and red chilli flake, mellowed by buttery crumpets.

Quite hot and peppery with salty and toasty lemon pancakes, all a bit pithy and sappy vanilla led with some singed straw and herbs supplying a hint of HP aromatic smoke. Some white chocolate cookie dough but all feels a bit raw and unbalanced, needs water.
