The entry level bottling from Scotland's most northerly distillery, Highland Park, aged for 12 years. This is an older design, before the Highland Park range underwent a rebrand in 2017, and another in 2024. A fab find for a retro collection.
These bottles were part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

The best 12 year old Scotch bar none!
This Scotch is worth every cent. A succulent burst of sweet peppery wood, heather and a smokey sweet presentation that makes your mouth water. The nose has fresh fruity notes with a hint BBQ chips in the background. Truly a great dram that will never disappoint. Just sayin'.
For the price you can't expect much. Save up and go for the 21 year old. It's much better.
My tastes in Scotch tend to be quite diverse, though I find my favorites are the Islay Scotches (Laguavulin, Caol Ila, and Laphroig) and Oban's 14 Year. Compared to those, I find the HP 12 year a bit rubbery and astringent. The smoke is there, but I miss the heavier sweetness that follows some of the smokier Islays, or the smoothness of the Oban. Granted, the price points of those and this are different. Will I turn it down if offered a glass? Probably not. Have I found others that I like better? Definitely.
I can't wait to find someone who will accept this bottle. Made me think of bad roadside bbq soaked in liquid smoke...just not enjoyable at all.
