Boy howdy, sure does smell like darn good rye whiskey around these parts! Well golly, no wonder it does when there's High West Rendezvous Rye from Utah up in here!
With a very high rye content in its mash bill, Rendezvous Rye is an authentic, spicy blend of that makes one heck of a Manhattan as well as being brilliant by itself.
Rustic notes of oak and fruit, a little menthol. Slightly grassy, followed by sweeter notes of toffee and classic vanilla.
Oak spices, pepper and even some chillies. Needles to say, it's rather spicy. Deep inside you'll find a little treasure cove of sweetness, but then it's back to the savoury notes from the nose.
The heat continues from the palate (how could it not?) with fresh oak and tea leaves.
A surprising rye whiskey, unique and very enjoyable.

If you're looking for a rye with that "wow" factor, then stop here. Simply one of the smoothest, easiest drinking ryes on the planet. Warning, this bottle will disappear quickly once opened!
one of the best rye's on a budget, you'll be looking at spending much more to get anything better, especially with the mark up that bourbon has in UK... and as previous reviewers have mentioned High West is and always was very honest about where they source their whiskey from, hopefully anyone reading reviews won't be discouraged because of someone who not only doesn't know such basic info but also posts reviews without actually trying the whiskey he's "reviewing"
Of course it doesn't. Just to be clear - this is a blend of young LDI and old Barton sourced rye whiskeys and High West has been nothing but straight honest about that fact from the beginning. All that said - this is a FANTASTIC rye that just edges out Sazerac 6yo as my favorite affordable rye whiskey. It's a brilliant and masterful blend with an expressive rye / butterscotch nose and a delightful rye, caramel, citrus taste that finishes with more rye just a touch of white pepper. Excellent on every level and worth every damn bit of coin.
I do not know why the other review only gave it a rating of 2, probably based on the fact that HW RR is from LDI and Barton distillery. All information you can easily find on High West's website. Masterfully blended by High West. In my opinion it is one of the best ryes available in Europe. You're in for a treat!
Please note that this is not distilled at High West Distillery. For now, High West is a non-distiller producer. They buy their whisky from the Lawrenceburg Indiana industrial facility, which supplies bourbon and rye to many NDPs, including, most notoriously, Bulleit.
