Hamilton islay

Its not too bad. The Islay distinct taste is there. You can 100% tell it’s islay. It’s not mature as the the aged expensive brands like ardbeg, laghroag, or laugavlin but for 20 dollars it beats jack Daniels or johnny walker red. It’s 40 proof. If you like the taste of Islay scotch and want to just drink to get drunk, this is a perfect brand. I like it and it’s $20 well spent

Not blended?

The Hamilton's Islay I get at my local "Total Wines and More" is labeled as blended. It's my second favorite after Lagavulin, which costs 3 times as much (but it's worth it!). I wouldn't be surprised if it's bottled by Laphroaig ( a truly great Scotch!). I'll have to look around to see if I can find the single malt version.

Excellent

I am a big fan of Laphroaig and this whiskey could be mislabeled! It is bottled Hamiltons but is Laphroaig!

Great

I love this Scotch,because I love Scotch from this region for it's unique taste. This Scotch is very smooth,similar to Laphroig 16 yr.

without a drop of water

For my birthday i got some infamiliar brands of whisky, afther opening I got my first taste of the Islay botlle, verry sweet for my taste afther putting a drop of water in it, second tasting the pure stuff was beter. notes of orangepeel, nugmag and fruit. but missing the smokey flavor. always nice to meet a new brand on the Dutch market
