Nomad Outland Whisky is a collaborative blended whisky from renowned master distiller Richard Paterson and expert Sherry producers Gonzalez Byass. It is made with a selection of over 30 malt and grain whiskies aged between five and eight years old in Scotland. Following that, the whisky is shipped off to Jerez, where it is finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for a year before it is bottled. Richard Paterson and Gonzalez Byass' master distiller, Antonio Flores, experimented with different Sherry casks, including oloroso and fino, but ultimately decided on the Pedro Ximénez casks for this enticing expression.
Raisins, walnuts and orange peel – sherry heaven.
Peppery, fruity and fresh initially, followed by walnuts and molasses.
Sweet and sticky.
For those loving sherry driven Scotch (and who doesn’t?) this is your guy. Tremendous value for money, for a blend it’s rich and unctuous. I tried it with chocolate and that PX finish really stepped up to the plate.
I love the unique aging process for this whisky which gives it a really delicious flavour. Would absolutely recommend.
Totally unique concept, and a delicious experiment.
I was just looking around one of my favorite "toy stores" and noticed the unusual bottle and description. I was intrigued enough to quickly look at some ratings and decided to give Nomad a chance. Wow. A ~$35 NAS dram with this much flavor and sophistication? Amazing. Of course, being a blend of 5- to 8-year-old whiskeys that are then given another 4 years to age, it's not a total surprise. But the bottom line is that Nomad is now my new VFM leader cuz it compares very well with the $100 stuff.
Purchased this for a whisky loving friend who really enjoyed it. They drink a broad spectrum of whisky styles but found the sherry cask touch of sweetness really inviting and moreish and would buy again
