Nomad Outland Whisky Bottling Note

Nomad Outland Whisky is a collaborative blended whisky from renowned master distiller Richard Paterson and expert Sherry producers Gonzalez Byass. It is made with a selection of over 30 malt and grain whiskies aged between 5 and 8 years old, which are blended together and matured in Sherry butts in Scotland for three years. Following that, the whisky is shipped off to Jerez, where it is finished in Pedro Ximénez casks for a year before it is bottled. Richard Paterson and Gonzalez Byass' master distiller Antonio Flores experimented with different Sherry casks, including Oloroso and Fino, but ultimately decided on the Pedro Ximénez casks for this enticing expression.

Nomad Outland Whisky Reviews

Sherry Darling

Masterful blend indeed. This is like taking a tour round your favourite Dalmores, and popping into an old Spanish sherry cellar along the way. Smooth, sweet, fine and easy. Fruit, raisins, pear, and just the faintest whiff of sea salt. Beautifully done.

In Praise of Nomad

Nomad is the best tasting whisky I have ever had. I give bottles to all my scotch-loving friends and have heard nothing but positive praise in response. I regret that I have trouble finding it. My local liquor store stocks it sporadically. Nomad is a rare, precious gem

A perfect marriage between whisky and golden Spanish brandy

When it comes to Spanish brandy I prefer Torres 10. This whiskey has managed to combine good whiskey with Spanish brandy in a perfect marriage. I truly love it! Deep flavours, sweetness and raisins and a lovely body.

Sherry Bomb

One of the best sherry cask aged whiskies I have ever tasted. Crazy amount of PX sherry with every sip.

BRILLIANT

THE BEST WHISKY I HAVE EVER TASTED

Merry Sherry

Loads of sherry-insane amount that fills your mouth. Technically not a scotch but beats many scotch whiskies hands down. Very nice. Wish I had bought more bottles as it has sadly ran out at my local store.

Heaven in a bottle

I work for the Pieroth wine company and we distribute the Pedro Ximinez sherry, heaven in a bottle.
My son knew this and got me a bottle of Nomad as a present.
What a wonderful creation, try it and be amazed at the ripe full flavors infused into the whiskys by the maturation process. Genius.

Amazing rich whisky

Amazing flavour & richness - with the Pedro Ximenex barrels you get a real honeyed flavour - almost like a bourbon style

Delightfully different for a winters evening

Almost a sticky toffee pudding quality to this unusual maturation that is slightly reminiscent of Macallans of a few years ago.
It may not be for you if you’re not keen on sherry and Pedro Ximinez in particular but this is a really great fireside companion.
Received as a present yesterday it is lovely and warming either straight or with a small amount of water. Add nothing else and drink at the right time of day after dining well.

Well done, highly recommend.

I came across this by chance. Having a connection to the name Nomad it caught my eye. But a Scotch style whisky not made in Scotland, NO WAY!

Two days later I bought a bottle. I am sure glad I did. The wife and I enjoyed a couple of glasses on this Christmas day. A nice nose, add a drop or two of water and even better. I highly recommend. Next time it will be with a good cigar.

A gift for a friend

A friend of mine recently told me about a whisky he found in a bar. He has been looking for a way to get into whisky and this is where he found it. Turns out he's going to grow up to be a bourbon/Irish whisky type, which is fine by me. This is a very good whisky to get you started if you have a sweet tooth. At a great price, I wouldn't mind making it one of my go-to's after a quiet day.

Surprisingly good fun.

I was surprised to see this only had 4 stars. We drink a lot of bourbon and rye here but certainly have a penchant for whisky too. This was tasted along with 5 others on the night we corked it and at the end of the night was a huge success. As a new addition to our collection we started the night with it the next week. Loved it.

Great

Delicious and great value for the price.

Has hints of raisin and honey but its not syrupy.

Different and tasty, a nice and pleasant surprise, great bottle as well.

Lovely for the money.

In many ways a whisky for the non-whisky drinker! Very smooth and with clear sherry influences, it is amazing value for money. Infinitely nicer as an "everyday" whisky than other whiskies in this price range. I generally head for 20+ year old whiskies and invest too, so I'm not averse to spending enough to enjoy a wee dram, and I suspect the usual bunch will sneer at a lack of complexity (started already below?), but let's just acknowledge that a nice bacon roll can be very enjoyable and we don't have to eat fillet steak every day! Well worth buying. I've awarded 5 stars to offset the whingers!

Delicious

Tastes like raisin, caramel, maybe some menthol, sweet but not syrupy. Overall lovely and smooth, and I would not have thought it contained unmalted whisky. Reminds me very much of Highland Park Dark Origin in its heavily sherried (or, I guess, Pedro Ximenezed) style, at half the price. One of my absolute favorites in this price range.

Suprising

Bought a bottle after a sample and am enjoying more and more.

Will buy again .

Is this whisky?

Very disappointing. Initial flavours are raisins and honey and these flavours disappear rather quickly. For me personally this is too sweet. It seems a mix of Cuaranta y tres and The Glenlivet Founder's reserve. Sweet and boring.

smooth!

Very nice

Disappointing blend

Disappointing. Slightly sulphured and practically no nose. Not one I'll be trying again.
Bottle is the best thing about it.

Be prepard for another thing

Y just tried this whisky , and I must say , It,s another kind o f whisky I am spanish and it remain me more on brandy than a whisky, anyway It is a good flavour , a little seewt for my own preferences, but interesting , I miss some bit of the real whisky but it worthy.

A bit different, but very good

Having heard good things about this, but having not tried it and being unable to find any samples I bought a bottle.

I was glad I did. It's worryingly drinkable.

Very smooth with a very caramelly nose and lingering toffee flavours, but without being too sweet.
