    Glenmorangie Tùsail Private Edition

The sixth release from Glenmorangie's exceedingly popular Private Edition series, Tùsail is made with Maris Otter barley. Maris Otter was originally bred in 1965 to meet the need for a high quality brewing malt, though it eventually fell out of style, with higher-yielding varieties taking its place.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

    grestvyear for glenmorangie

Having tried dornoch early this year and fallen in love I find myself amazed once again. This has a uniqueness to it and leaves you craving more. Not typical morangie but typically brilliant.

    Tusail is to relish

As a long time Glenmorangie fan, I found this to be a delightful surprise, and initially challenging to fully understand. The nose is classic Glenmorangie, though less floral than Original, and with a hint of sweet bourbon lurking in the background. The palate is wholly unique, not just for a Glenmorangie, but for any single malt I have yet experienced. It is full bodied, complex and earthy, with a smooth malty sweetness and savory spice reminiscent of rye, along with cardamom and just enough black pepper for pleasant warmth, and a hint of vanilla. There is also a mouthwatering grapefruit tang and a delicious savory/bitter note of walnut. The finish is relatively long, with prominent spice, walnut again, then gradually fading to a lingering sweetness. Overall, this is a truly interesting, adventurous and flavorful single malt - well worth the money!

In hopes that MOM will source some more !

You all have to try this it's truly sublime !. It's oviously N.A.S (no age statement) but Glenmorangie has the age and the ability as well as the exsperiance to pull of a Private Edition like this with its malty and sweet characteristics that shouts out "I'm definatly a single malt" . If they actually made a line with maris otter barley it would sell like hot cakes because it just leaves you gob smacked on its quality and flavour and shows if you get quality ingredients then add some knowledge then it's very likley you will have a quality product at the end that can take on the best of exspensive whisky's like the once untouchable Glenmorangie Ealanta !

    It's the best morangie I've had !

This is a curious creation from your normal morangie but ohh god have they pulled it off !. The nose gives biscuity and almond aroma with fresh lemon or lemon grass and sweet and fresh cooking aroma of baking full butter short bread with a huge dose of malty maltiness. The palate is much the same as the nosing only far.......far more flavour, this is the equivalent of the children Disney film beauty and the beast and the beauty being the fresh elegant aromas and the beast being the fullness of the flavours just a magnificent creation by the very clever and very creative talented Dr Bill Lumsden also a little birdie tells me the barley used in this is the very same used in the other very clever morangie which is signet only its not roasted in a Coffey roaster like the Signet Barley is. The finish is long and sweet with the malty biscuity almondy taste slowly dispersing on the tongue. What a magnificent dram and this is one of my all time favourites of Glenmorangie, 5 stars easely and more if I could andic pays homage to all Spaysider aficionados !!!

    soft southerner

this is the most exquisite whisky i have tasted in years, truly unique. And no wonder, it is made from Maris Otter, the only barley ever to have been developed for its flavour. It is used in all of the worlds best beers, well done Glenmorangie!
