We love Glenfarclas. Founded in 1836, and bought by the Grant family in 1865 when the original founder passed away, it's been independently family owned and run ever since. If that's not unique enough, they're also the only distillery in Scotland whose whiskies are all produced using 100% direct fired stills having never stopped the practise (albeit moving from coal to gas in the '70s).
