Need I say more? I treat myself to the odd luxury now and then (as I'm sure most who visit this site do.) However when I do splash out an entire day's wage on some liquor I really hope to be more wowed. Sip one gave new meaning to the word "astringent" and reminded me of my days as a student, drinking whatever my meagre budget would allow. Ever the optimist I took a second, tentative sip, only to find that the severe astringency was sadly not sufficient to overshadow a truly flaccid palate. Not just flaccid, but limp and unimaginative to boot. I finished the glass stoically...hoping for a twist in the plot...nothing. As far as the lingering finish was concerned...well I can say that it took a while for the taste of disappointment to fade. I emptied the rest of the bottle down the sink, partly on principle but mostly because I knew I could find better whiskeys in my local supermarket. Truly underwhelmed.
