Single Malt
This Highland single malt has been matured in oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for big helpings of dried fruit character and sweet spice. Bottled naturally coloured, non-chill filtered, and at a robust cask strength ABV, a drop of water wouldn't go amiss here. A great whisky to cosy up with next to the fireplace, this one.
Dark gingerbread, with candied orange peel, dried raisins, and a touch of toasted almonds.
Rich fruitcake, cocoa nibs, dried currants, clove, cinnamon, and some dark muscovado sugar.
Warm winter spices build, with almond nougat.
I typically go for smokey more peaty Islay scotches like Laphroaig/Ardbeg but this was a refreshing change of pace. Nose stank of syrup/caramel it had a great mouth feel and it went down neat incredibly well. Sweet stuff right here.

The 'pricey' thread has raised some interesting points, namely - people are judging and scoring produce on price and colour alone. How ridiculous and naive. Beware of false prophets malt mates! 'Tried a sample' raises another issue. Judging a whisky on 'texture' - apparently its smooth!! Next time i get the plasterer in, i might compliment them on there work. For example - " your plaster work is spicy, a touch woody with some saline herbals". Stop describing whisky as smooth, its an adjective for texture not for aroma or flavour.
Excellent whisky. Add a half table spoon of water and taste the older flavours arrive!
