GlenDronach 42 YO 1971
At an incredible 42 years old, this was one of the oldest casks Glendronach had maturing. Distilled back in 1971 and bottled in 2013, 432 bottles were produced from this single Pedro Ximénez Sherry puncheon. Unbelievably aged, sherried, Highlands whisky.
Nose: Lovely prunes juice as well as older wood , wood varnish, spices, some mushroom , hints of leather, sugar and vinegar, with a touch of wet chopped grass. at just over 44 % it's very gentle.
Palate: rather gentle due to the lower alcohol, but just as majestic : big prune juice, dates, roasted coffee beans, spices: cloves, cinnamon, chocolate. add some plums, ripe cherries, and mint.
finish: cinnamon, mint and dark prune jam.
lovely, lovely . and quite lively at 41 yo . not a tad woody!
