The GlenDronach 25 Year Old 1991 - Kingsman Edition

Ah, the GlenDronach 25 Year Old 1991 Kingsman Edition. The release of a GlenDronach with that age statement is exciting enough, to be honest. But, my savvy reader, you probably noticed that this particular GlenDronach is listed with the moniker: ‘Kingsman Edition’. As it turns out, this GlenDronach is being released to celebrate Kingsman: The Golden Circle hitting the big screen.

If you’re wondering why the GlenDronach 25 Year Old 1991 Kingsman Edition has been bottled at this age statement, 1991 is when ‘Eggsy’, the main character of the film was born. It turns out director Matthew Vaughn lists GlenDronach as his favourite whisky and that he was behind this intriguing collaboration. But this isn’t the first whisky tie-in for the film...

Old Forester, also owned by Brown-Forman, announced a high-proof bourbon called ‘The Statesman’, which launched a few months before the movie's release. The United States equivalent of Britain's Kingsman organisation, ‘The Statesman’ don’t posses a bespoke tailoring business as a front, oh no, The Statesman have a whiskey distillery, complete with spirit-based codenames for all their agents. If you’re wondering, Master of Malt isn’t a front, this is actually 100% what we’re doing with our lives. Definitely no need to check for a secret room behind the office bar...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Notes of sharp dark fruit and tangy oak notes move through a leathery aroma. A suggestion of soft earth also present.

    Palate

Dark coffee warms and temper juicy raisins and sherry-soaked plum, with tempting hints of walnut in the background.

    Finish

Medium length and full, sherry tones obvious in the finish with hints of chocolate and walnut lingering. Bitter flavours assuredly mature sweetness and leave room a touch of smoke.

    Overall

Complex and assured, there's lots going here. Fit for a king(sman)!
