Single cask single malt from the Glenburgie Distillery, matured for a massive 40 years! This expression was distilled in 1980, and set aside to age for four decades in a refill hogshead before being bottled in June 2021. It was bottled by Douglas Laing for the Xtra Old Particular range, with just 233 bottles produced.
The nose immediately delivers on barley with citrus peels then develops to a wonderfully rich, buttery style. The palate is mouth-coatingly thick and moreish... There's vanilla cream with a sweet malty character alongside chocolate shavings and ripe apricots. The long finish reveals more creamy/caramel depth with a warming spicy quality apparent too.
