    Glen Scotia 15 Year Old

This is the 15 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Glen Scotia in the Campbeltown region, released in 2015 as part of a redesign for their range. The distillers use specially selected American oak casks to age this expression, which compliment the fruit-forward and subtly coastal whisky rather well.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Lots of rich fruit here - apricot jam, satsuma segments and apple pie. Wafts of sea breeze and baking spices develop after a minute.

    Palate

Vanilla and fruit, with ginger and cinnamon bring a subtle dryness to it.

    Finish

    Quite long with continuing spice.

    One of my favorites

Incredible in my opinion, 4 to 5 flavors all marry together almost seamlessly to create a perfect scotch experience. I could swish this around my mouth and it's one of the few scotches I can say that about. While 46% isn't the highest abv imaginable, it's respectable and amazing to me the thicker mouthfeel this has and simply the smoothness in the mouth.

I really don't get what everyone is so impressed with

After letting the Double Cask oxidise for a week or so, I started to pick out some interesting flavours beyond the burn, so took a punt on this Nose is subtle. Bit of malt. Taste is a little simple and bland, with a burn on the finish. I would say Longrow CV has more flavour and interest, and is much cheaper. Underwhelmed, and for this money, really not imp

    A. Proper. Whisky.

Good mouthfeel. Properly alcoholic so has plenty of wallop. Smooth on the nose and in the mouth. Reminds me of Oban 14. Lovely raisins and dates with floral spicing. Thanks to the chap in the whisky shop in Oban for recommending it.

    Lovely stuff

This is an unusual whisky in that it tastes unlike any other bourbon matured whisky that I've tried , its lovely stuff just disappointed that its coloured with e150 , so 4 stars instead of 5 because of that.

    Absolutely stunning!

I'm enjoying this enormously. While not overly sweet, the depth and complexity of fruit notes on the nose and the palate are huge, and perfectly balanced with dry, spicy oak and beautifully integrated subtle smoke and "maritime" notes. And, much as I can enjoy a good sherry cask dram, I think the lack of any sherry influence here only adds to the uniqueness of this splendid whisky. At £60-70 a bottle I would consider this outstanding. At the current price it is nothing short of amazing.
