Glen Marnoch - Aldi (yes, Aldi!)'s 24 year old single malt whisky! We tasted this alongside the sterling Glenbridge 40 year old in a tasting led by none other than whisky legend Jim Murray. This was distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2011…
We’re sadly sold out of this, but if you’re after a bottle of Scotch then feel free to browse our site single malt whisky.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Red apples, bourbon, gristy, vanilla. Heat brings out more bourbon and rye spice.
Lean, slightly bitter, not a huge deal of depth. An enormous hit of almost Saccharine sweetness before the rye spice develops into a slightly acrid note?
Acrid saccharine turns slightly alkali, and slightly mouth-watering (not in a good way). Becomes really very off-putting at the death.

This whisky was very good.. An excellent brand given tips price. I'm going back next week to see if Aldi' has more.
As always "each to his own". My view- wonderful!
Not at all bad local aldi Peterborough still has this and 18 yo in stock.... Obviously not rocketed off the shelf at Xmas. It's certainly not a great whiskey, but the review makes it sound rubbish it is certainly not. I am lucky enough to have similarly aged whiskey in my collection and this does feel a bit washed out compared to those. Would assume not grade a to hit to bottle of the brand. Sort of similar to tomintoul 21 in term of big apple flavours but not much else. Compared to a standard 35 bottle like a macallen gold in same price point this is better. Worth a try it's not al all bad. Personally the 18 is more to my liking 30 quid and bit more complex than 24 but not at all bad for the outlay..that said u can get glenfarclas 12 for this money and that's a whole lot better than this.
A great single malt , a great finish and what great value well done Aldi
Just picked up a Bootle fromAldi. Am pleasantly surprised, it may not be as complex as one might expect for a 24 yr old but its very nice. I get areal milk chocolate aroma and taste nice long finish too. Will give the 18yr old a go next.
