Glenisla 37 Year Old 1977 (cask 19602) - Cask Strength Collection (Signatory)

Glenisla 37YO '77 #19602 Bottling Note

This is a rare independent bottling of Glenisla single malt Scotch whisky (which is experimental peated whisky from the Glen Keith distillery - they no longer produce it), presented by Signatory. It was distilled back in July 1977 and set aside to mature in a single hogshead cask. 37 years later in January 2015, the rare, intense, peaty whisky was bottled by Signatory for their Cask Strength Collection with an outturn of 266 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Pencil shavings, waxy apples, buttercream frosting, smoked cheese and burnt cinnamon. A touch of rubber, too.

Palate: More buttery elements on the palate with brandy butter and apple strudel. Apricot yoghurt gives it a fruity character, whilst tree buds and toasty wood smoke balance out the sweetness.

Finish: Very long with under-ripe pear, green banana and clove.
