Girvan 42 Year Old 1979 (cask 18972) - The Sovereign (Hunter Laing)

Girvan 42yo '79 Bottling Note

An impressively well-aged Lowlander here, this single grain Scotch from Girvan spent a whopping 42 years resting in a single refill hogshead! Remaining in the cask between 1979 and 2021, the whisky was independently bottled by the team at Hunter Laing, without added colour, or chill-filtration, for The Sovereign collection.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Summer berry sweetness with delicate herbs and flaky raisin pastries.

Palate: Honey flapjack, vanilla cream, and well-buttered popcorn, with nutty malt and distant drying spice.

Finish: Maple and pecan build on the finish with buttered sourdough and hints of peppery rocket.
