Single grain Scotch whisky here from the Girvan Distillery, which has enjoyed a lovely quarter century of rest in a single refill barrel. Distilled in December 1993, after 25 years of slumber, it was independently bottled by Douglas Laing November 2019 with an outturn of only 219 bottles. Yet another excellent release from the Old Particular range.
Maple syrup, honeycomb and soft cedar spiciness.
Orange peels, confectioner's sugar, more honey and toasted cereals.
Mature oak lingers.
First time to try the Girvan. Very surprised how smooth it was. Not as smooth as the Dalmore cigar, but the orange zest comes through sharp, but settles quickly and the taste of caramel lingers.
Smooth and excellent whiskey i would buy again
