A gorgeous Garnheath single grain Scotch whisky, independently bottled by Douglas Laing as part of the Xtra Old Particular range. This was distilled back in February 1974 and aged in a single refill barrel until August 2019, when it as bottled at cask strength with an outturn of only 122 bottles. Rare stuff from a closed distillery!
The nose is bursting with creamy vanilla, a hint of red fruit sweetness and baked apple turnover. The mouth-coating palate shows notes of apricot, rich toffee, buttered corn and icing sugar, while the finish has lingering pear drops, vanilla custard and toasted almonds.
