A blended Japanese whisky from White Oak, said to be made with 45% American oak matured single malt. We also understand that Meïsei translates roughly as 'celebrity' in Japanese.
Toasted oak and vanilla, followed by green apple and pear. There's a gentle floral note, with hints of dried apricot and honey, complemented by a faint smokiness in the background.
The palate offers a smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel. The flavour opens with sweet malt, caramel, and vanilla, quickly followed by the richness of figs and raisins. Oak spice, pepper, and a touch of cinnamon develop, along with creamy almond and chocolate.
Medium-long, with lingering oak, spice, and smoke as well as the pleasant sweetness of vanilla.
This has become one of my go-to blends of late. I've now enjoyed 3 bottles of it and every single one has been well worth the price. Warm and rounded palate, with hits of Sandalwood/Pepper on the tongue.
One of the cheaper options for Japanese whisky, but well worth it. A lovely, smooth, slightly sweet, slightly fruity whisky with a warming finish.
A rather pleasant blend with a rounded vanilla taste (and only a very light petroleum sting). I picked it up for $18 (worth a try!) in Taipei Airport and was quite impressed at the price.
