From the recently revived Dunville's Very Rare range of Irish whiskey, presented by the Echlinville distillery in Northern Ireland, comes a 10 year old single malt Irish whiskey which has been finished in Pedro Ximénez casks. A very intriguing release, with plenty of orchard fruit, custard and old fashioned sweetie notes. It was recently crowned Best Irish Single Malt Under 12 Years at the 2015 World Whiskies Awards.
Fresh green apples, tropical chews and coconut lead, with dried grass and a touch of crème brûlée.
Stewed red fruits, candied orange and a crackle of black pepper initially, before a little mocha, custard and spice rise.
Juicy and pleasant on the finish with some lingering wood.
Seems like they missed the hearts on my batch- tasted of jet fuel and fusel alcohols. Dumped the whole bottle
Light, sweet with a lot of complexity. Maybe the best Irish Whiskey I've ever had!
Fantastic whiskey for the cost.
I find it criminal that this isn't available in the States as it is quite possibly the best Irish out there, especially given the price. I am usually skeptical of award winning whiskey as they seldom match the hype but this was an exception and good God was it amazing. Support them and help them grow. Would love to see more emerge from this distillery.
Really good whiskey form this new distillery, not much about them online but they have set the benchmark high. Looking forward to the future
