Though the Dumbarton distillery remains closed, we can still get our hands on its whisky via indie bottlers like Douglas Laing! This one is a 32 year old single grain distilled back in August 1986, left to mature in a refill barrel until August 2018 when it was bottled for the Xtra Old Particular range with an outturn of 112 bottles.
The nose is full of squeezed summer fruits, Caribbean spices, sugar and grist, followed by a big and mouthcoating palate with a gingery prickle, vanilla, coffee and cereal. The finish is now more subtle and you may detect ice cream and hot chocolate sauce with mocha.
