Tailfire is one of two no age statement single malt Scotch whiskies released for the Singleton of Dufftown range in 2014 (the other being Sunray). In tune with the berry red label, the Tailfire is a fruit-laden expression, with a high proportion of the whisky coming from European Sherry casks.
Crisp apple, red grape, raspberry and candied orange peel all jump out. A grassy green note and Wensleydale & Cranberry maintain balance whilst a touch of tobacco develops over time.
Raspberry bush, more Wensleydale. Oats, vanilla and a hint of pepper.
Drying and hot (rod) with lip smacking fruitiness.
A vibrant, berried Singleton with enough depth to keep you interested.
An enjoyable whisky with a somewhat boring character. The sherry finish isn't really evident, contributing very gently to the aroma and adding very little to the flavour.
A Full • refreshing yet mellow offering from Singleton. Lovin It..
Got a bottle for Christmas. Poured a glass, and smelling it its beautiful fruitiness is really up front, which is great. Then I taste it. I wouldn't say one dimensional, but two - the 1st being white chocolate and raspberry cookie from Morrison's; the 2nd being young, unrefined spirit. The two seem to balance each other out adequately, but the residual feeling is that you've been somewhat short changed. It's not terrible, but won't be buying any more.
If you like sherry malts - it will work for you. Good value for money .
One of the worst single malts I've ever had the misfortune to purchase. Tastes like an artificial raspberry flavouring. Ridiculously sweet and one-dimensional. No finish at all. This is a whisky for people who don't like whisky. Avoid!
