Dailuaine 7yo MoM Bottling Note

We'll never lose our fascination with the ways that different casks can influence a single malt. Here we got our hands on a single malt from Dailuaine, distilled in 2015, and bottled in 2022 – a twin to the other seven-year-old Dailuaine to join the ranks of our own indie bottling line of late. The two are not identical though (as you might have gathered from their different hues), instead of finishing in a sherry cask, this expression was treated to a stay in a first-fill bourbon barrel. The result – inviting layers of vanilla, custard, and oak spice, presenting a delightfully contrasting character to the sticky, sherried fruit sweetness of its sibling. 361 bottles of this one.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Citrus blossom and delicate lemon custard pudding, vibrant, fresh notes of vanilla pod lead to buttered tea loaf and cushions of soft sponge cake.

Palate: Silky soft butter leads the way for a coating of juicy, oily malt, slick caramel, and vanilla fudge. A snap of pepper edges in with hints of pork crackling, though the creaminess keeps it in check with superb balance.

Finish: Flaked, toasted almonds, sweet oak char, Custard Cream biscuits. A final wash of buttery barley gives way to a tingle of fresh green peppercorns.
