Deck the halls and feast your eyes upon this splendidly seasonal addition to Douglas Laing's Premier Barrel series! This 10 year old single malt was distilled at Dailuaine and matured for a decade in a single barrel, before being hand filled into extremely charming ceramic decanters – 602 of them to be precise. Taking inspiration from whiskies past, the decanter has some fabulous fonts, and of course some snow and holly detail because it's a Christmas release. The whisky is well chosen for the occasion as well, with heaps of dark fruitcake, festive zest, and sweet candy character.
Raisins and currants, poached plums, and roasty malt with a touch of gingerbread and honey.
Sweet vanilla and baking spice, peppery oak, and aromatic nutmeg with rich caramel, toasted nuts, and candied orange.
Gentle wafts of dried herbs join the cakey spice, buttery toffee with touches of clove and menthol.
