A big, muscular Speysider from Signatory Vintage’s ever-reliable 100 Proof range. Distilled at Craigellachie in 2011 and matured for 15 years, this release spent its finishing period in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry butts, layering rich sweetness over Craigellachie’s famously robust, slightly sulphury spirit character. Bottled at a hearty 57.1% ABV.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Stewed dark fruits, espresso, struck match, and treacle sponge, with walnut oil and raisin loaf.
Palate
Thick PX richness coats the palate with dates, figs, dark chocolate, and molasses, before meaty malt, clove, and roasted coffee emerge underneath.
Finish
Sherry sweetness, tobacco leaf, and cocoa bitterness.
