Single Malt
Hunter Laing
A marvellous Craigellachie single malt, matured for 14 years between April 2007 and February 2022 in a single sherry butt. The cask was opened by Hunter Laing to release an outturn of 338 bottles, independently released for its Old Malt Cask series.
Crisp green apples, vanilla fudge, and chocolate raisins, with some drying herbs in the distance.
Soft fruits with summer berries and creamy apricot, more milky chocolate, and biscuity malt follow, with bold oak char and a prickle of pepper.
The pepper builds with gentle heat towards the end along with shavings of ginger. Honeyed fruit brings sweet balance.
