This was distilled at Glen Keith on the 4th April 1973, it was aged for 38 years in a refill sherry butt, before bottling by Signatory in June 2011.
Slightly peaty on the nose, with notes of apples and almonds (maybe apple pips perhaps). Some damp hay, a little mint, a touch of freshly mown grass, and honey.
Oily and minty, with a big whack of smoke. Brunswick ham, applewood smoked cheese and parsley. Utterly unusual but rather beguiling.
Good long finish with hints of sweetness developing, alongside a thick hit of pine smoke.
