Arguably the most important peated Irish whiskey, Connemara was the first in the modern era of renaissance to remind folks that Irish whiskey can be smoky. In fact, it often was, and Connemara Peated Whiskey is inspired by the whiskies that would have been made over the centuries in Ireland in areas like the one that gives the expression its name. Turf (as the Irish often call peat) was what was available to the early whiskey makers, so prior to the 20th century, peated whiskey was commonplace in Ireland. Connemara whiskey is produced at the famous Cooley Distillery and has a distinct but still delicate smokiness, balanced by a smooth texture and sweet taste. This profile has been highly decorated, receiving over 20 medals from major spirits competitions since 2012.
Well-smoked and peated, heather freshness and floral notes with a honeyed sweetness and a little wood.
Full and smooth with notes of malt and peat, honeyed smoke and barley sweetness.
Long and pungent with honey and peat smoke.

Love it, my preference is Irish, I like scotch peaty so to get an Irish peaty is a dream, quality wee dram
This is my third try at Irish whisky, I think from now on I'll be sticking with Scottish whisky and when I fancy a change I'll try Japan, America, anywhere but Ireland for my whisky. It is very sweet when it hits your tongue then bang smokey/peaty taste, and it just sits there overpowering any other taste. Nothing else filters through. I will be offering this to every visitor I have just to get rid of asap.
Very nicely balanced, that surprised me a bit in a good way. Taste wise it is absolutely lovely on the palate, i've tried it with a little teaspoon of water and it had a little more to it even then!! If you're new and want to try peated malts, this would be a good place to start. The peat is quite soft for this one ;)
I think it's a really nice Whisky. You can't compare it with Islay and they certainly don't claim to be like Islay's. So it is stupid to make that comparison. In my opinion it's one of the better Irish Whiskies.
The tastes & smells of this Uiscé Beathá breathe of a small quaint cottage on the west coast of Connaght. Sitting beside a small peat fire with a cuppa tea & a honey biscuit. It is soothing to the soul, something familiar & homey about it, just comforting.
